I’m a

&

Speaker

interested in applying public health to policy.

About Me

I’m not your typical epidemiologist. I work at the intersection of policy and public health and communicate complex ideas to non-expert audiences. Recognized as an expert in harm reduction policy, I write, speak and conduct research that promotes public health strategies that improve health outcomes. In addition to harm reduction, I have a keen interest in mental health and reproductive justice.

When I’m not thinking and writing about public health, I’m also a professional horseback rider.

What I Do

  • Public health research methods span qualitative and quantitative analyses. From literature reviews to surveys and interviews to nationally representative data sets, there are multiple ways to collect and analyze data. I’m a researcher with the knowhow to work across research methods and data types to find insights and apply them to advance real-world solutions.

  • My writing has appeared in Inside Sources, The Orange County Register, Marijuana Moment, The National Review, Filter, and Real Clear Health. I pride myself on being able to explain complex ideas to non-expert audiences in a way that makes them care about issues that might seem unimportant to their daily lives. Although I have a knack for writing for the non-expert audience, I can also produce long form, scholarly pieces and reports.

  • I grew up on stage and the performing arts were was one of my first passions. Now, as a scholar, I channel my inner entertainer when I speak about science and policy. If you need a moderator, panelist, presenter, or commentator who can speak to non-academic audiences, let’s talk.
